  Oil compressors require more maintenance than oilless air compressor. This is because the oil has to be changed from time to time, depending on the design and the amount it has been used. The user manual specifies how often the oil should be changed. This is not necessary for oil-free air compressors. As with most inventions, the air compressor design has steadily improved over time to eliminate these flaws. The oil-free compressor is designed to prevent any compressor oil from coming into contact with the compressed air. This process results in clean, dry air with no contamination, which is a crucial requirement in certain applications.
