Microscope can be considered as one of the most fundamental medical equipment’s available. I guess it can be found at all the hospitals, pathologies, labs or clinics. Those who want to purchase a microscope need to consider many a things. Price being one of the most important criteria, though it should not be the first and the last thing to consider when you think about purchasing a new microscope.

Here are a few tips which can become handy to you while buying a good microscope.

For many people and organization purchasing a microscope means a big decision, decision to invest a big amount, so obviously everyone will look towards getting the most out of their money.

One of the most common mistakes which normally people do is of purchasing a microscope without testing it properly, many a times a microscope might be constructed too poorly, though it looks amazing and too modern on its design.

Let me tell you frankly, if you want to purchase a microscope then first decide what exactly is your need to utilize the same. If you want to study blood, bacteria, or some similar small specimen then I would suggest you to opt for a compound microscope. Just to understand it clearly these small particle’s need a very high power of magnification to see them. Generally a compound microscope will fulfill the purpose as it normally has 3 to 4 objective lenses, which ranges from 4X to 100X as far as Power is concerned.

Always remember that standard range of magnification for grades K-college resides in between the same. Some cheaply made microscopes claims that they can have around 1200X to 1400X of magnification, but always stay away from these claims.

On the other hand if your purpose of purchasing a microscope is to study larger particles like insects, rocks, leaves, etc. then you must choose a stereo microscope. Well frankly I was not aware about the differences between the two types of microscope; I came to know about them after discussing with one of my friends who is the owner of a   Microscope manufacturers  company.

These bigger sized specimen need less magnification to study them, so stereo one is better for it, as it has at least two eyepieces. Also these stereo microscopes provides a three dimensional picture of the particles.

Well actually there are two types of stereo microscope also available in market, one being the dual power one while other one is of zoom magnification. A dual power microscope is having two sets of magnification such as 2X and 4X of objectives. On the other hand in a zoom one magnification ranges from its lowest power to the higher one in a continuous mode.

So if you are well aware about which type of microscope you want to purchase, then I would also advice you to do a bit of research through different websites before purchasing the one.
