How To Act Properly In A Coworking Space

by Stephen Wilson Welcome to my Blog

office work spacesIf you decide to work in an office work spaces, which is most common for independent contractors and freelancers, one thing that you should keep in mind is that you do not own the place. As the name suggests, it is a place that is shared by various workers, including those from professions that are not in line with yours. Therefore, when you are working in such environment, you should be considerate of the needs of other people. Make sure that you act not only based on what is good for you, but also on the basis of what will be good for other people.

Avoid Noise

Certainly, no one would want to work in an environment that is noisy. More often than not, this can lead into lost of concentration, and hence, making it impossible for you to finish the work as anticipated. In a coworking space, make sure to not make any noise that will bother anyone who is working around you. When you are talking to someone over the phone, keep your vice low. Do not make any loud sounds when you are moving. Bring your own headset, if it is not provided. Do not play loud music on speakers.

Dress Properly

Shared working spaces are made in such a way that they will be able to provide the same feel and environment that is felt in a regular office. This is true even when it comes to dress code. Even if you are working as a freelancer, as long as you are in a coworking space, make sure to look smart. Wear something that is casual, at the very least, wearing shorts and slippers, even if it is alright with your line of work, may be bothersome for those who have different professions but also chose to be working in the same shared space as where you are.

Be Organized

Being organized is also grounded on the premise that the coworking space is a shared office. In some places, you have to share one big table with another person. More often than not, if you have your own table, it will be visible with others as well. In this case, make sure that your work area is free from clutter and dirt, as such will be distracting for others. It is not motivating to work in a place that is messy. Make sure to keep your papers piled neatly and all other things in order.

Respect Privacy

While in a coworking place, it cannot be denied that there is a need to interact and socialize with other people, especially because it can lead into knowledge sharing and lessening stress at work. However, make sure that you are not crossing the line. Do not be a disturbance to others. Respect the fact that they also need to work, and they do not have all the time to talk to you. If there are matters that they do not want to disclose, respect their decision to be private. Do not be an intruder in their personal life, as this will be annoying for them.
