Ethnic Wear for Men

Men are believed to have lesser options as compared to women when it comes to ethnic wear. Women have so many choices for traditional attires including wide variety of sarees, kurtis, ghagra-cholis and so on. They are likely to get confused when it comes to choosing a single type of ethnic outfit. Men, on the other hand, can’t make up their minds easily if they are supposed to wear traditional clothes. This is mostly because they are not used to buying such outfits. Secondly, they believe in the general misconception that they do not have much of a choice in case of ethnic wear. It is certainly not true, as they too have great options to choose from wonderful ethnics. They can opt for various traditional tops like kurtas, ethnic shirts, sherwanis and team them up with bottoms like pyjamas, dhotis or lungis. They can also go for sets to save the efforts of matching up the tops and bottoms. Traditional Tops

Men’s traditional tops can be broadly classified into two types: kurtas and ethnic shirts. Kurtas are available in many styles, fabrics and lengths. They come in pathani, A-line or straight-cut styles. They can be worn for formal, casual, party and religious occasions. Kurtas can have three types of lengths: short, medium and long. Short kurta ends just above the knees. Medium one is up to the knees and long kurtas ends below the knees. Sherwani is the richer form of kurta which is mostly worn for special occasions like weddings and family functions. It has intricate detailing of embroidered motifs and studs.

Ethnic shirts for men mostly have embroidered necklines, sides and cuffs. They can also have fine detailing done with silver or golden threads. They usually have ethnic designs like batik, bandhej and block prints.

Ethnic Form of Bottoms

Men’s ethnic bottoms include pyjamas, dhotis and lungis. Pyjamas are available in many forms. They the regular ones have loose fitting. Some can have gathers and tighter fitting which resemble women’s churidar. Dhoti is a little ignored but fabulous option when it comes to men’s ethnic bottoms. Dhotis are available in limited but versatile colours. Nowadays, stitched dhotis are also available which can be worn effortlessly like pants.

Ethnic Sets for Men

Ethnic set for men is basically a pair of contrasting top and bottoms. A set of kurta and pyjama, churidar paired up with kurta, shervani teamed up with churidar are some of the examples of ethnic sets for men.

Accessories

Men who care about style can spruce up their traditional look by wearing a matching or contrast stole with any type of ethnic set. They can opt for elegant turbans to be worn with traditional wear for family functions and weddings. Brooches made exclusively for men add rich look to any man’s ethnic attire.

Mens ethnic wear has evolved with time. Nowadays, traditional outfits are available in numerous styles and designs to suite every man’s taste. Men too have liesure of choosing a perfect one for themselves from countless varieties of ethnic wear.
