Social Networking: Tools of the Trade

by Rebecca Beasley Consultant, Web Designer, Script Set Up
Social Networking is one of the hottest things you can do online to make friends, find a date, find people interested in the same things you are, find business contacts, and get noticed for what you do best.

One of the things that people try to do is send ads to people and hope they'll sign up for their business opportunities. But this is not the best way to go about recruiting people into your business. First you need to build people's trust and confidence in you as someone they can identify with. Make contact and be a friend first, don't try to recruit people right off the bat or you'll find the same type of rejection as when you try to recruit your family members.

Connect to others who share the interest in your niche, and do it by linking to them and sending people their way and helping them to promote their own sites.
Give first, and the rest comes back to you. The law of reciprocity is at work when you give, so you always want to give more than you receive, and then more people will be glad to send traffic your way too.

If you learn to use the tools of the trade, such as a firefox browser that opens tabs with your best social networking sites all at once, a google toolbar with a blog this button, and a really good blog on blogger.com with adsense ads you'll be able to use all these tools in concert with each other and quickly add content into your blogs, adding other people's relevant blogs into your rss feed boxes on the other networks, and keeping the content real with topics that interest a lot of different people, and not just you.

I have several blogs on Blogger that I do this with and I've made a lot of new friends by simply checking out their blogs and finding content that applies to what I'm doing with mine and adding it. They appreciate the exposure and it's not a bit of trouble to do.
I also use del.icio.us bookmarks, and have a toolbar on my firefox for doing this. It's fun to watch and see how many other people are bookmarking the same things I am.

What's great is I'm learning something new every day and not just blasting ads around safelists and surfing for credits. It's a new way of getting it all done lickety split and it's never boring or tiresome.

I hope that you'll contact me and let me know if you need any help with this.
I would be more than happy to walk you through it all.
Sincerely,
Rebecca Beasley

Hi heart:
I would love to swap some links with you. It looks like we both enjoy social networking. I haven't been networking as long as you have but I do agree no one likes to be spammed.
I have a blog and a squidoo about social netwoking. Both are fairly new.
