In June 2007, “Christmas in
the Berkshires” was completed. All the exterior footage was shot by
Billy. The purpose of this commercial DVD was to provide Christmas shoppers
with a unique viewing and listening experience. Robert, a Christmas CD and DVD
buying fanatic, noticed that there was always a wide variety of music but never
a wide variety of DVD’s. Usually just the same Christmas DVD’s year after year.“Christmas in the Berkshires” offer customers a fresh new alternative. At
21 minutes, “Christmas in the Berkshires”is neither to long or too
short and best of all will leave you wishing for snow.
About Us
North/South Pictures was
formed in 1996 by filmmakers Robert Huculak and Billy Hahn. Billy resides in
The Berkshires,Massachusetts, USA and Robert in Oakville Ontario, Canada. They met in 1991 in New York City where both were going to school. Their first award
winning short film entitled “Merwinsville” , written over the telephone, has been screened at various film festivals
across the world and televised in Canada, US and Mexico. It is a touching story of yearning and never
giving up.
Their second film, a half hour, was filmed in Winnipeg, Manitoba. Canada, called “The Resolving Door”.
It is about a young man who finds himself trapped in purgatory and
unwittingly gets his most daunting question answered. It has also been screened at
film festivals and televised nationally on CBC’s “Canadian Reflections”.
Billy’s
directing/writing/producing experience includes many short films. Most recent
credit is “Fish Bowl Billy” which was filmed in Great Barrington, Massachusetts.
As a writer/director/co-producer, Robert
has recently completed a documentary entitled “The Boys Who Came to
Play”. It is a story of 2 Negro League baseball players migrating
to the Canadian prairies for the love of the game, the impact they created
athletically and socially as well as the life long friendships they made on the
prairies. To finally 57 years later when a friend of two of the remaining
players, 75 year Lois Bentley from Brandon, Manitoba, fights to have them inducted into the Manitoba
Baseball Hall of Fame. And finally succeeds! This co-production with the
National Film Board and Buffalo Gal Pictures was televised in May, 2007 on CTV
Manitoba.
